Vote Vote Vote......

This was the scene all over Dallas for early voting (I will be out of the country election day). Voting lines were looooooooooong, and we look forward to the campaigns leaving Texas so that we can reclaim our telephone lines which have rung non-stop with messages from volunteers and recordings from real candidates.....

V.O.D. Opens in Dallas.....

Fashion Dallas Staffer Jackie Bolin has always had the most exceptional taste and has found her calling with a new store (with partner Liz) at Victory Park called V.O.D. (yes, I'm a Valley of the Dolls fan). Bringing a mix of exclusive labels to Dallas, I was particularly intrigued by the small but well edited selection of black vintage clothing (including Chanel). And we just fell in love with the store's constant companion, Homer, shown in the window and lounging on a chair. Best of all, V.O.D. and Haven are nestled together, so you can shop with one stop.

Two New Stores Open in Dallas...

Charles and I picked a blustery, rainy day to visit friends who have opened new stores at Victory Park near the American Airlines Center Downtown. Jon Tutolo with partner John Bassignani’s new home accessories store Haven is a sanctuary of hip and beautiful things. They call it interior therapy, and I agree. An added treat was running into Evans Caglage, who photographed us over the years as staffer for fashion for the Dallas Morning News (yes, yikes! I was nervous taking a picture of the master himself, shown on the right with Jon). My fave item? Why, those Razorback piggy banks in shimmering colors of red, silver, white and gold. But I will leave it to my Arkansas friends to decorate their digs with hogs....I'm a Texas girl now.

Laura Linney at the Oscars in Cathy Waterman

Oscar nominated Laura Linney really stood out at the Oscars in Cathy Waterman's Arabesque pendant on leaf fringe necklace, Rocky Mountain Pine Cone Cuff, and a pair of simple diamond rose cut earrings. If you watched the Oscars, you were sure to see her, as the cameras just couldn't take their lenses off her.

New Me & Ro Jewelry.....

Spring has sprung & so has the new Me & Ro 18 karat gold collection. Cutout designs over carnelian and lapis stones gives great dimension and meaning, with oms, anchors, moons and stars, elephants (trunks up for good luck) and flowers. Yep, it's Spring for sure.....

It's Dance Marathon Time at Northwestern U......

It's that time of year when the oldest Dance Marathon in the country (founded in '75) gets geared up to DANCE! This year the beneficiary is Bear Necessities, a pediatric cancer foundation dedicated to helping kids like Ricky, shown above. My baby duck (yep, that's Alysa) is in her third passionate year of
Dance Marathon, and I can't help but throw in a plug. If you feel as moved as we do, please consider making a donation online in her name to help those children touched by cancer. Look for another blog entry that weekend when this Mama Duck goes crazy because Alysa goes "incommunicado" for 36+ hours. You go girl....

Valentines 2008: Cathy Waterman...

From our endless (did I say endless? I really mean it!) suggestions for Valentines Day from Cathy Waterman's Trunk Show, might I suggest a little 22 karat gold mixed with platinum and diamonds? Makes a lethal mix for love, don't you think?

Baby, Oh Baby Elise....

If she looks familiar, it's because Roshawnda was one of the Ylang 23 models for our advertising campaign, before she moved on to Motherhood. We thought then that she could not possibly look more beautiful, but look at her now, with baby Elise...wow! What's best is that this gal is as beautiful on the inside as out, and it shows. A lovely visit, thank you.

Cathy Waterman Valentines Trunk Show.....

We just LOVE the most amazing shipments (yes, plural) just received for our traditional Cathy Waterman Valentines Trunk Show, and the pieces are already flying out of the store (and walking too).
Check out her new yum pastel strands and gemstones...and her Eiffel Tower cuff has left us speechless (imagine what it will do inside a pink-ribboned box?)

Some Valentines will get blenders, others chocolate and flowers, and our Valentines? Make it Cathy Waterman or else. Stay tuned....

Spring Arrivals: Irene Neuwirth

We are having a fun time playing with the Irene Neuwirth's Spring colors of chrysophase and pink opal, not to mention the incredible lapis. And the new rose cut stones for Spring are beyond beautiful. And did we mention the dreamy, dreamy moonstone?

This Just In from Evanston, Illinois.....

Yes, I have a guest photographer today, Alysa, who reports from Northwestern. And this was the view from where she was studying this morning. Baby, it's cold outside! Someone buy her a hot meal, pleeeez!

A Hard Day at Our House....

Alysa was so desperate for a dog in 2nd grade, that she borrowed Fred from a friend for the 2nd grade pet show. Shortly thereafter, we surprised her with Chouchou, the sweetest pup on earth, and it was love at first sight from both ends. Over the last 14 years, Chouchou has been a constant in our lives, bringing companionship and unconditional love to all. He had an uncanny ability to glue himself to the side of whichever of us needed him most (and we all did); for me, it was 5 years ago going through cancer treatments. Today we lost Chouchou to illness, and our household will never be the same.

Things We Didn't Get the Chance to Do.....

With one of our four-legged friends in distress back in Dallas, our 36 hour trip was cut even shorter and we headed home.

Meet the New Generation for Lucie Campbell....

We enjoyed seeing Richard Campbell in Florida and he was proud to show off his baby daughter (that's her mom in the background).

Off to Florida....

This was to be a quickie business trip, and the Sunshine State was as promised, even more so.
We left a freezing Dallas, froze on the plane, and when we landed I regretted not packing my flip-flops. Oh, well....
