A Visit to the Waterman Studio...

There is nothing more fun than visiting Cathy Waterman's Studio, where we had the pleasure of visiting with her summer intern and daughter Claire, as well as Dana and Gretchen. Cathy spent ALOT of time hand-picking pink tourmaline stones for a very special bride-to-be. Stay tuned for a wedding pic by year's end.

Waterman Wonders.....

I have had sooooooooo many inquiries about my beautiful platinum and diamond "23" designed by Cathy Waterman. It goes without saying that it is our lucky number and I just love wearing it. While my "23" is an exclusive, a friend has a special affinity for the number "25" (my lips are sealed). And now that number is hers. If you have a number you want to discuss, give me a call; we might be able to arrange an exclusive for you.

Signs You are in L.A.

When you leave the airport, you see Randy's Donuts, which we are guessing must rival Sprinkles. When you drive on South Robertson and see scores of valet attendents in front of The Ivy, looking for the next celeb to roll up, yeah, that's what we are missing in Dallas. Stay tuned.

It's the Beginning of Wedding Season!

That is, Katy's wedding season. In town with her sister and sister-in-law to shop for wedding bands and bridal earrings (hint, hint, they are Cathy Waterman), as well as jewelry for her bridesmaids, we all had a giggly blast. And her mom? Well, she stuck around to pick up the damage. Congrats to Katy and Ryan and family!!

My Friend Holly ...

My friend Holly Moore, fashionista extraordinaire editor of Paper City Magazine (the ultimate go-to guide for the hippest places to eat, shop, and live in Houston), pointed us to the divine

Cafe Annie where we ended our dinner with this berry confection. The next day we power shopped Galleria, and had the good fortune of encountering 5 lovely girls celebrating their Quincenera (coming of age at 15). Sadly, we did not have time to visit my fave gallery, The Menil Collection, so will have to plan a return visit. Thanks Holly!

Houston R&R.....

My sister & I had a great weekend at The Houstonian, an 18 acre wooded oases in the center of Houston which is very down home Texas with a sleek, killer spa, Trellis. One word of warning about Houston: your hair will most probably be out of control from the high humidity, but hey, isn't that what Texas hair is known for?

Old and New, Go Figure....

We are having a spectacular summer at the store, including: discovering a new designer, Atelier Marisa, receiving an amazing shipment from a well known designer Lucifer Vir Honestus, who is new to Ylang 23; and receiving our first collection of Ylang 23 Estate. My how time flies!

Lady Bird Johnson

Lady Bird Johnson and I shared two things: a journalism degree from the University of Texas, where I had the privilege of introducing her at Commencement, and wildflowers. They line the sides of tens of thousands of miles of highways, and are the result of her love of wildflowers and lifelong work to pass the Highway Beautification Act (visit www.wildflowers.org) to see the Lady Bird Wildflower Center at UT. She was a lovely lady whose grace and love of nature and beauty will be missed.

Wet Flags and Sleeping Dogs: Happy 4th of July!

It. Will. Not. Quit. Raining. My neighbors flags are wet. The dogs don't care.

Departure Day

Our last day: brunch with friends, hold friend's IPhone, buy an IPhone of my own (sorry, Blackberry, I lied), stop by Dean & Deluca for plane food, hug daughter to death, and off we go. A glorious weekend in the city...
