New Candy on the Block: Candycorns

I was out for errands on Sunday and
noticed this inviting open door at Candycorn's. I stopped in and just had to get some kettle corn for Jake (and some for me, me, me!!!) This is a great giftie place and I got some wonderful holiday ideas (don't tell!).

Pink Ladies Walking for Breast Cancer

Sunday's weather was perfection (sorry to all my East Coast friends, including you, Alysa Teichman)...and this march for breast cancer seemed to go on for miles. My feet might not have participated but from my own experience 6 years ago, my heart was with all these participants. You go girls!!!

Jamie Lee Curtis: Big Words for Little People Reading

Jamie Lee Curtis is amazing (and does a terrific bawling baby imitation). Her new children's book, "Big Words for Little People" is just out, and I decided that, rather than catch her speaking engagement at a ladies luncheon (yawn!!), I would rather enjoy a book reading at Barnes & Noble, snagging a few signed copies for friends, and best of all, a hug. It was a wonderful change from what I normally do, and well worth bumping elbows (and knees) with the younger set.

Borrowed from a Fellow Blogger: A Cathy Waterman Earring

I just couldn't help but publish this great inspiration from a fellow blogger, Lotuspod, who has nailed the look with these black diamond Cathy Waterman earrings. Thanks for including us!

Just Loving Facebook.....

Ylang 23 is now on Facebook...Sign up as a fan and follow all our news, including trunk shows and events.
And while I never thought I would love Facebook personally, it's nice to wake up to a wall post from my baby duck in NYC, pointing my way to this very appropriate article by Michelle Slatalla from the New York Times Style Section.

Goodbye Andy Hanson

I was saddened to learn that Andy Hanson had passed away. Ever present on the Dallas social scene, he photographed every notable over the years we have lived here and was just the nicest guy. We just saw him working an event at the Nasher, doing what he always did so well with his Leica camera. There will never be another Andy...so talented and unassuming. He had a rich life, photographing President Kennedy, Elvis, the Beatles, and any celebrity who passed through Dallas over his 40 year career. Most of all, I remember how nice Andy was, and how he always took time from his job to visit.
A loss for all. (PS. I did not take the pictures. Even though Andy took tons of us, I never thought to take one of him.)

Paper City Editors Publish Book: Domestic Art

We attended the kickoff of Domestic Art, a beautiful coffee table book by Paper City editors (and friends) Holly Moore, Rob Brinkley, &
Laurann Claridge (shown in reverse order: that's Holly on the right) of "lavish, loopy, eccentric assemblages, and moody modernism" from a decade of Paper City Magazine. Great book, ours is autographed, and if you need yours to be too, let me know and I'll pull a few strings. PS. That's our cute and always stylish Neimans friend Doss.

Ten Thousand Things Trunk Show

A grand time was had and jewelry was flying at the Ten Thousand Things Trunk Show earlier this month. Seems like the conversation kept going back to shoes -- and even legs. Great pair of gams, Ron.

PS...what goes on in Dallas, stays in Dallas!
