Mavericks Basketball and My Boys....

It was a momentous night for Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavs, and for my guys who were lucky enough to be there, courtesy of a friend. Yes, I gave my seat up so Jake could take a friend. And Dirk's achievement (that's him in the air)? He shot his 15001 career point during the opening of the 1st quarter against the New York Knicks at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. And where are my guys? Well, Charles' face is behind the basketball, and my son Jake (with the blue cap) is next to him. Best team in the league...Go Mavs!!!

Leaving L.A. but not without PinkBerry!

It's departure day, and following the most divine and healthy breakfast, Alysa just insisted stopping by Pinkberry on the way to the airport. It's the new phenom which is sweeping L.A. Honestly, I think a few opened in the few days we were there. Heavenly yogurt (yes, I tasted) with toppings of mango, strawberries and Fruity Pebbles is my child's choice. Just wait, I am sure it will be opening soon in a neighborhood near you.

Well, Alysa and I figured out this plan. In order to enjoy this amazing dessert duo, including a Bento box with chocolate delight and a plate of banana crepes from Matsuhisa....we had to be good girls and eat this earlier in the day:

A Visit to Cathy Waterman's Studio....

What a lovely afternoon Alysa & I spent at Cathy Waterman's studio. No, this is NOT a new addition to their clan, but her adorable niece. What a beauty and what a proud aunt!

Raymond Nasher: A Life Remembered....

We are saddened by the sudden loss of Ray Nasher, a Dallas icon who was known and beloved around the world for his love of art and humanity. Mr. Nasher was first and foremost a gentleman who loved people and who possessed such a warm heart and vibrant spirit. His generosity led to the donation of his amazing sculpture and art collection to the City of Dallas, as he conceived and oversaw the design of the Nasher Sculpture Center, which has drawn art lovers worldwide. My special memories of Mr. Nasher are a private tour we bid on shortly after the Center opened, where he led our small group of family and friends through the details of the art and architecture, as seen through his vision. And last year when the Renzo Piano exhibit opened and I spied him cruising through the exhibit, he was gracious enough to stop by my luncheon in honor of Cathy Waterman, so that she could meet him. Such a loss, and such a wonderful life remembered with fondness.

Yes, that's sunset as in finished. Back in Dallas. Vacation over. But I'll always have this memory.

Cooking on Vacation with Larbi...

Oh this was just THE most glorious day of vacation...learning to cook with Larbi, the Executive Chef of Agua Restaurant, named #1 in Latin America. Larbi shared the secrets of my personal favorite, chicken, since I have long run out of ways to cook it. Am trying hard to get him to publish a book. What a talent!!! And the results? Yummy, yummy lunch...
