In what has become one of the lovliest benefits in Dallas, benefiting the Vogel Alcove children, this year's event featured Gladys Knight (yes that is the fast moving white streak in the middle of my picture). She was a m a z i n g......with a voice and energy far under her years. Congrats to the Alcove for such a great evening, and for the money they have raised for the children of the homeless.
My friend Priscilla sure knows how to throw events, and this luncheon to kick off this yearsArt for the Bridge, to benefit the Bridge Breast Network, was wonderful. Save the dates: September 11 and 13, to bid on amazing art, to help those women who don't have the means for breast cancer treatment. Did you miss bidding on the Caldicott or Burton last year? I hear the art this year is beyond...stay tuned for more details....

We can only imagine the oohs and aahs at a power garden party, complete with press, to introduce Cathy Waterman's bejeweled Muses. Cathy honored Jamie Lee Curtis as her Guardian Muse (Jamie Lee hosted the party at her home), Maria Shriver as her Wellspring Muse, Nance Silverton, chef to the stars, as her Dreamer Muse, all present at the party. In absentia, also honored were Julia Roberts as the Juggler Muse, Sally Mann, the photographer, as the Muse, and a young actress, Jurnee Smollett (Great Debaters) as the Sprite. All were honored as inspiration for Cathy's Goddess Muse. The event benefited Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and UCLA Jonson Cancer Center. Catch the happy hostesses on InStyle's website, and catch a muse of your own from Ylang 23. Wish I lived the Hollywood life, but hey, I'm having a great time in Dallas, connecting with all you goddesses out there.
Today was Earth Day and environmental advocate Julia Roberts appeared on Oprah with all things wonderful including wearing a great Catherine Michiels piece which she owns. Consisting of three 14K gold pendants (Shankha, Lotus and Mudra), Julia wore the Holy Trinity on Silk as a necklace. We can only say, Wow. Give us a call....
From sunny skies to a pile of hail, welcome to my week and Spring in Texas. My baby duck Alysa has been circling the skies tonight, trying to avoid the weather, and having landed unexpectedly (hello Wichita Falls!), she is back in the air once again and we can't wait to get her home. A loooooooooooong night for my baby duck and an interesting week for those other fine feathered friends.
Let's give a shoutout to Bronson who has lots of choices for his day, but prefers the understated and elegant look of Cathy's pearls with encrusted South Sea. Thank you for not chewing, for a change.
In the midst of a 24/7 construction to expand our glorious space, I contemplate the beauty of walls, pipes and insulation. It's been an interesting week, being uprooted to a temp space, but WOW. The store will be reopen on Tuesday (for those of you ordering on the web, we were open for business) and I can't wait. Stay tuned for pics of our new space. In the meantime, I am making house calls in Dallas and we are shipping, shipping, shipping madly. The new collections are amazing and flying out the door.
