Very Cool: Abstract Expressions in Carbondale

You must drop in to Abstract Reflections to see Lily Kennedy & husband Matt (Lily is James Surls' daughter) who have the coolest shop in the area. We really dig the aquariums and unusual fish (this lovely creature's job is to clean up after all the other fish), and all the arrangements of succulents, and did I mention that there are some of James' original pieces that you can't find anywhere else? Yes, we just couldn't resist adding to our collection.

Carbondale, Colorado: Worth a Stop

Caught a great outdoor art fair, some cool wheels, and the best, yes THE BEST Mexican we have ever, ever tasted (sorry Mi Cocina and Taco Diner and Fernandos, all in Dallas). From the chips to the home made salsa (gotta get me some more!) to the tacos and everything in between, including killer seafood. Have never tasted better. This is definitely worth a detour to get to Mi Casita.

Rocky Mountain High: James Surls' Studio

The closed Interstate on the way home (adding 3 hours) was a small price to pay for an amazing visit with James Surls & his wife Charmaine Locke (an artist in her own right) in Carbondale. We were in Surls heaven, with one inspiring piece after another. Unfortunately for us, the New York Park Avenue sculptures were taken down yesterday, in advance of our NY visit. Oh, well, we got our fill, at least for the time being. Thank you James & Charmaine!!! Check out more glory at jamessurls.com.

Eddie Teichman Featured on Jewelry Blog

Eddie is so thrilled to be mentioned on someone's blog and to see his picture too! And he thinks that Pickles is very foxy looking and hopes that they will meet sometime. Oh, and ps., Joanne's Treasure Hunt jewelry was also mentioned, but didn't get top dog billing.

Terminal D in Dallas

If you must fly through Dallas, make your stop Terminal D where you will find a great assortment of shopping and eating, from Bar-B-Q to Ben & Jerrys. You might even run into the plane loads of service men and women returning from Iraq or Afganistan, and be part of the crowd that cheers their arrival.

Eddie Had His Own Vacation.....

There's always some drama at our house and this time it was my assistant rescuing a tiny treasure which she named Zena. Eddie got over being jealous and actually made a friend. Here's to good health and long life to Zena!

Let's Talk About Turkish Food

We were foodies in foodie heaven. Salads were fresh, Turkish Delight (all that sweet stuff) so tempting, fish was just caught and honey from the hive. From the Bazaars to the wharfs to the most charming restaurants, we could happily eat our way through Turkey. Found the spices and a cookbook and well, stay tuned. Alysa & I are determined to replicate the magic.

New Page Sargisson....

Hard to Blog from Istanbul....

Sorry to drop out of sight but blame it on AT&T. After getting a nasty, surprising $7,000 bill for using my IPhone 1 1/2 years ago in France (which is a discounted international plan), I was petrified to use my IPhone in Turkey which is not discounted. I had 20K of usage and you can bet I counted it out carefully. No texting to Blog, Facebook, Twitter. And when I landed back in the good old USA where I have the largest cheapest plan available so I can use that IPhone (new 3GS) 24/7, I was bumping up against the 20K. Whew. And that $7,000 bill? Well, leave it to my assistant to sweet talk my way out of it. And that cute little guy? Why it was Turkcell, welcoming me to Istanbul.
